What is ALIVE?

Dear Teacher,

Thank you for letting us come into your classroom.

The Long Beach ALIVE’s mission is to inform 4th and 5th grade LBUSD students about alternatives to physical, sexual, emotional, and neglect abuse as defined by the California State Law.

Our trained, all volunteer staff have done these presentations since 1990 to over 22 LBUSD schools.

Our program consists of two one-hour sessions in the classroom.

We discuss what abuse is, how it differs from non-abusive discipline, and how to get help to report abuse.

We show a movie depicting abuse, how to stop or report it, and how it is not the child’s fault.

We ask that you stay in the room at all times and support us by interacting as you wish.
